Ecological, natural, organic or bio are terms more traditionally linked to foodstuffs than to other areas such as cosmetics. However, consumers are changing, and the market for natural-origin personal care products is increasing year upon year.
The fact is that end users are demanding increasingly more natural and environmentally-friendly products. This change has prompted a growth in the production and supply of natural cosmetic products. Moreover, in view of the growing interest, these products are becoming increasingly easier to find in traditional shopping establishments.
Natural cosmetics, constantly growing
The latest report by Grand View Research Inc. attests to the increased sales of natural cosmetic products and forecasts a good outlook for the industry in the medium-term. The American consultancy firm considers that the turnover of the worldwide market for natural-origin personal care products will be as high as 25 billion dollars by 2025, making an annual growth rate of between 8% and 10%.
According to the same report, in 2018 North America led the sustainable cosmetic market, followed by Europe, Asia, Central America, South America, and the Middle East and Africa bringing up the rear.
In Spain, cosmetic manufacturers are becoming increasingly more aware about the development of ecological beauty articles and last year’s production figures put us in eighth position in Europe. Moreover, according to the Spanish Chemical Cosmetics Society, manufacturing increased by 20% in 2018, particularly in the Autonomous Community of Madrid, where it increased by 30%.
Packaging: committed to natural-origin materials
Not only are customers demanding natural-origin cosmetic products, they want the materials used to manufacture the packaging to be sustainable or recyclable as well.
In order to cater to current consumer demands, Rafesa works with a broad range of containers and accessories that meet these requirements, such as our Alessandro and Alex line, which caters to consumer demands in matters of sustainability, since this line is made of recycled PET.
Indeed, in recent years we have committed to including environmentally-friendly packaging in our catalogue. Thus, we work with collections made of glass for perfumes and cosmetics, as well as sustainable and recyclable plastic containers.
